JACKSON, Tenn. – The 2008 TranSouth Athletic Conference post season awards were announced during a ceremony at the TranSouth Softball Tournament. Seven members of the Trevecca softball team earned 11 honors this season.
Kacey Coonce was named the TranSouth Player and Newcomer of the Year. Brittiany Johnson was named the Pitcher of the Year for the third consecutive season. Ernie Reynolds was named the Coach of the Year for the second time in his four years at Trevecca.
Coonce and Johnson were joined on the TranSouth All-Conference First Team by Chelsea Bailey and Megan Suggs.
Making the second team All-Conference were for Trevecca were Ashley Camp and Karli Rush.
Reynolds, in his fourth season leading the program, has a 187-40 record with the Trojans. He has led the team to the conference title in each of his first four seasons. The team has won the last two conference and region tournaments and advanced to the final five teams at the NAIA Tournament both years.
Coonce, a 5’8” junior from Goreville, Ill., produced a .523 batting average this season with a team high 12 home runs, 59 runs, and 58 RBI. The University of Georgia transfer has 14 doubles and was successful on nine of 10 stolen base attempts.
Johnson, a 5’10” senior from Pulaski, Tenn., has produced at the plate and in the circle. She had a .448 batting average along with 49 RBI and a team high 18 doubles. She has a 29-2 record in the circle with a .45 ERA and 284 strike outs.
Bailey, a 5’7” junior from Mt. Juliet, Tenn., has scored 51 runs and has been successful on 39 of 43 stolen base attempts. She has produced a .387 batting average.
Suggs, a 5’4” sophomore from Old Hickory, Tenn., is hitting .362 with eight doubles and has been successful on 29 of 32 stolen base attempts.
Camp, a 5’4” senior from LaVergne, Tenn., has produced a .331 batting average and has scored 31 runs, hit eight doubles, and driven in 38 RBI.
Rush, a 5’6” freshman from Mt. Juliet, Tenn., has a .328 batting average with 33 runs scored, seven doubles and five home runs. Rush has only been caught once in 23 stolen base attempts.
