SOFTBALL: Three Named NAIA All-American
KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced the 2008 Softball All-America Teams and three players from Trevecca's record breaking team were included. The selections are made by the NAIA Softball Officers and comprise a First Team, Second Team and Honorable Mention Team.
 
Senior pitcher/hitter Brittiany Johnson, of Pulaski, Tenn., was selected to the First Team for the third straight season. Kacey Coonce, a transfer from the University of Georgia, was selected to the second team. Chelsea Bailey, of Mt. Juliet, Tenn., was named honorable mention.
 
Johnson started all 62 games and batted .446 with 25 runs, a school record 23 doubles, three triples, six home runs, 61 RBI, and a .498 on base percentage. On the mound Johnson was 39-6 with a .74 ERA, 285.2 innings pitched, 397 strike outs, 27 complete games, 46 starts, four relief appearances, one save, seven shutouts, and held batters to a .135 average.
 
Coonce played in all 62 games and batted .463 with 66 runs, 16 doubles, 13 home runs, 65 RBI, a .515 on base percentage, and was successful on 11 of 12 stolen base attempts.
 
Bailey played in all 62 games and produced a .382 batting average with 64 runs scored, three doubles, three triples, two home runs, 23 RBI, a .430 on base percentage, and was successful on 47 of 54 stolen base attempts.
